You are about to embark on an exciting journey by relocating to Kuwait. While many aspects of planning your relocation will be exciting, you will also be asked to provide your educational and personal documents to your new employer and for your Visa application. Before your documents will be accepted, it is necessary that they go through a process called authentication and legalization, also known as attestation.

The authentication and legalization process enables your Canadian documents, such as University degrees, College diplomas and Criminal Record Checks, to be used in Kuwait. First, your documents must be authenticated at Global Affairs Canada. Next, they must be legalized at the appropriate diplomatic mission of Kuwait in Ottawa. Each step of the process validates a signature on your document and a new signature and stamp will be applied.

As of May 2016, if you are a Kuwait citizen your Canadian University degree must now be legalized by the Kuwait Cultural Office in Ottawa. The Kuwait Cultural Office also requires specific supporting documents to accompany each degree, such as a sealed set of transcripts and a photocopy of your passport.

The Embassy of Kuwait in Ottawa will continue to legalize Canadian documents, both personal and commercial.

We can answer all of your questions and help with the authentication and legalization of your Canadian documents for use in Kuwait.
