Document authentication at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in Ottawa, now called Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD), is the first step in the authentication and legalization process, also known as apostille. Although the name has changed from DFAIT to DFATD, the submission process and mailing address remains the same.
