To have your Canadian educational documents officially recognized in Saudi Arabia, they will have to go through the process of authentication and legalization. Other countries have different terms for this process, including apostille and document attestation, but these terms all refer to the same process.

The three-steps involved with the authentication and legalization of your educational documents for use in Saudi Arabia are:

Step 1

Your documents must be authenticated at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa.

Step 2

Your documents must be verified by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau in Ottawa. You will need to have a copy of your transcripts sent directly to the Cultural Bureau from your educational institution.

Step 3

Your documents may now be legalized at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Ottawa. More information is available at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia website.

While this three-step process is theoretically straightforward, the reality can be a lot more frustrating. If you are handling this process yourself by mail, you will be waiting several weeks for your documents to be processed.
