When submitting your Canadian documents to Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD), you should be aware of their return shipping policy.

If you would like your documents returned by courier or Canada Post to a Canadian address, you may provide DFATD with a pre-paid self-addressed envelope. However, DFATD does not courier documents outside of Canada. If you reside outside of Canada, your documents will be returned to you by regular mail without exception. Depending on where you are this can add an additional 6 weeks to your processing time.

Using a service that specializes in managing the authentication and legalization process, like International Documents Canada (IDC) ensures your documents are processed and couriered back to you in as little as a few days. We actively monitor the changing requirements of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD) and over 200 diplomatic missions, so your documents are accepted and processed right the first time.

Contact an IDC expert to discuss the authentication and legalization of your Canadian documents, as we are here to help.
