In order for your documents to be recognized in Honduras, they will need to go through the authentication and legalization process, also known as apostille. The authentication and legalization process involves two important steps. First, your documents will need to be authenticated at Global Affairs Canada (JLAC Office). Next, they will be legalized by the Embassy of Honduras.

Please note that the Embassy of Honduras has recently moved. They are now located at 130 Albert Street, Suite 805, Ottawa, Ontario, K1P 1B1.

While the authentication and legalization process is theoretically straightforward, in practice it can be complex and frustrating. For example, Global Affairs Canada has very strict requirements and the mail in processing time for authentication currently takes 25 business days. In addition, you must consider the legalization requirements at the Embassy of Honduras. If you are handling the process yourself, plan accordingly.

International Document Canada (IDC) removes the stress, hassle and weeks of processing time involved in doing this yourself. We specialize in managing the authentication and legalization process for our clients. You send your documents to us and we take care of the rest, often in as little as a few days!
