What is document authentication?
Document authentication is the process used by an authorized government body to certify the authenticity of a document. In Canada, document authentication is done by Global Affairs Canada, or by an appropriate provincial authority.
A certificate of authentication is added directly to the document and indicates the location and date it was verified, along with the name of the signature that was verified.
Do you also need legalization?
If the document is destined for a country that is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, it will need to be authenticated and legalized. Document legalization is the last step of the process.
Once the document has been authenticated, it is ready to go through the document legalization process. Document legalization is completed at the appropriate embassy or consulate of the destination country.

The Authentication & Legalization Process
To have a Canadian document recognized abroad, it must go through the authentication and legalization process. This allows acceptance in countries that are not members of the Hague Apostille Convention. The Canadian authentication and legalization process involves the following three steps.
Document Preparation
Preparing your document for the document authentication and legalization process can involve multiple steps including notarization, translation, and more.
Document Authentication
The document authentication process is the first step of the process to have your document officially recognized in another country that is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention.
Document Legalization
The document legalization process is the last step of the process and involves having your document legalized by the embassy or consulate of the destination country.

I am very happy with the service your company has provided. I found this service invaluable as my impending foreign service assignment has been delayed several times due to paperwork issues and the legalization of my marriage certificate had the makings of another long bureaucratic delay if not for your expedited service.
From the first contact until I received my documents everything was clear and efficient and the customer service was superb. Due to a tight timeline I was not at all convinced that I would be able to get all my documents processed on time but everything was done for me as quickly as possible. I would recommend this service to anyone who is needing to get documents processed for a move overseas and I wouldn’t hesitate to use this service again in the future. A big thank you for helping me in an extremely stressful and busy time.
