If you are attesting your own documents at the Embassy or Consulate of Egypt by mail, the entire process may take up to several weeks. Attesting a Canadian document involves authenticating the document at the appropriate government office in Canada (Global Affairs Canada or the provincial office that holds jurisdiction over your documents) and then legalizing the document with the Embassy or Consulate of Egypt.

Global Affairs Canada takes up to 70 business days (as of Jan. 2024) to apostille documents. The provincial apostille offices take from 1-15 business days.

After authentication, the documents need to be submitted to the Embassy or Consulate of Egypt for legalization. The Embassy/Consulate typically legalizes documents shortly after they arrive and usually within 5 business days.
