What is an E-Apostille?

In Canada, the term “e-apostille” refers to the process of obtaining an apostille on an electronically issued document. Examples of documents that may be issued electronically are:

• Corporate – Certificates and Articles of Incorporation, Corporate Profiles, Health Canada Licences.
• Personal – Name-based criminal record checks, transcripts, letters of confirmation.

Electronically issued documents can be printed from the original file to be taken through the apostille process.

However, care should be taken to research all the requirements in advance. Not all offices and countries accept documents that are issued electronically, or documents notarized outside of certain jurisdictions.
