What is the difference between legalization or apostille for Spain?

Prior to January 2024, the process to have Canadian documents recognized in Spain was called “authentication and legalization”. However, now that Canada has signed the Hague Apostille Convention, the process is to obtain a Canadian apostille.

The diplomatic missions of Spain in Canada no longer handle legalization of documents from Canada.
