United Arab Emirates (UAE) Police Clearance Certificate

If you are immigrating to Canada, you may be required to provide a UAE Police Clearance Certificate. This document confirms your criminal record status during your time in the United Arab Emirates. You can apply online through the UAE’s EDAS system, use a local agent, or apply in person. We specialize in helping applicants gather the correct documents, including fingerprint forms if needed, and managing any required notarization, authentication, and legalization. Contact our experts today for guidance and support through this process.

About the UAE Police Clearance Certificate Process

Getting your Police Clearance Certificate from The UAE can be straight forward. It can be ordered in person in the UAE, online through the EDAS system, or you may apply through an agent in the UAE.

If you have your Emirates ID card, you should be exempt from having to prepare and submit a fingerprint form (C-216C).

Documents required for a UAE Police Clearance Certificate:

• current passport copy.
• Visa Cancellation page in your passport – need to have a residence visa (the red sticker/stamp).
• Copy of the Emirates ID used in the UAE (without this we will need fingerprints and the process will change).
• 1 x Passport Photograph (may be a scan).
• Confirmation of what language you want it issued in (Arabic or English).
• Confirmation of to whom the document is being presented.

We can certainly assist you with the application for your UAE Police Clearance Certificate. In some cases, we will need an original fingerprint form that has been notarized, authenticated, and legalized. We will not know until you let us know if you have the above documents and we have all the above sent to our agent for review. Generally, if you do not have an Emirates ID, or the visa stamp in your passport, we will also need the fingerprint form.

The Authentication & Legalization Process

To have a Canadian document recognized abroad, it must go through the authentication and legalization process. This allows acceptance in countries that are not members of the Hague Apostille Convention. The Canadian authentication and legalization process involves the following three steps.

Document Preparation

Preparing your document for the document authentication and legalization process can involve multiple steps including notarization, translation, and more.

Document Authentication

The document authentication process is the first step of the process to have your document officially recognized in another country that is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention.

Document Legalization

The document legalization process is the last step of the process and involves having your document legalized by the embassy or consulate of the destination country.
