Qatar Police Clearance Certificate

If you are immigrating to Canada or applying for permanent residency, you may need a Qatar police clearance certificate to prove your background history. Canadians and temporary residents who previously lived in Qatar can apply through the Embassy of Qatar in Ottawa — but the process has specific requirements. Our expert team can walk you through the steps, help prepare your documents, and make the process fast and stress-free. Contact us today for a free consultation.

About the Qatar Police Clearance Certificate Process

Getting your Police Clearance Certificate from Qatar can be straight forward. It can be ordered in person in Qatar, or you may apply through the Embassy of Qatar in Ottawa. However, you may only order your Police Clearance Certificate through the Embassy of Qatar if you are in Canada on a valid work or study permit.

If you were a resident in Qatar after 2012, or your residency ended after 2012, you should be exempt from having to prepare and submit a fingerprint form.

Requirements of the Embassy of Qatar:

• cover letter stating your request and the purpose.
• copy of the passport used in Qatar.
• copy of your old or expired residence visa in Qatar.
• copy of your current passport.
• copy of your current valid residence permit/citizenship in Canada (PRC, Work Permit).
• four photographs, passport size (size: 4.8cm*3.8cm).

If you were a resident in Qatar prior to 2012, you will also be asked to prepare and process a fingerprint form (C-216C). This form would require notarization, authentication, and legalization before it can be included in your Police Clearance Certificate application.

The Authentication & Legalization Process

To have a Canadian document recognized abroad, it must go through the authentication and legalization process. This allows acceptance in countries that are not members of the Hague Apostille Convention. The Canadian authentication and legalization process involves the following three steps.

Document Preparation

Preparing your document for the document authentication and legalization process can involve multiple steps including notarization, translation, and more.

Document Authentication

The document authentication process is the first step of the process to have your document officially recognized in another country that is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention.

Document Legalization

The document legalization process is the last step of the process and involves having your document legalized by the embassy or consulate of the destination country.
