Qatar Police Clearance Certificate Process
Getting your Police Clearance Certificate from Qatar can be straight forward. It can be ordered in person in Qatar, or you may apply through the Embassy of Qatar in Ottawa. However, you may only order your Police Clearance Certificate through the Embassy of Qatar if you are in Canada on a valid work or study permit.
If you were a resident in Qatar after 2012, or your residency ended after 2012, you should be exempt from having to prepare and submit a fingerprint form.
Requirements of the Embassy of Qatar:
• cover letter stating your request and the purpose
• copy of the passport used in Qatar
• copy of your old or expired residence visa in Qatar
• copy of your current passport
• copy of your current valid residence permit/citizenship in Canada (PRC, Work Permit)
• four photographs, passport size (size: 4.8cm*3.8cm)
If you were a resident in Qatar prior to 2012, you will also be asked to prepare and process a fingerprint form (C-216C). This form would require notarization, authentication, and legalization before it can be included in your Police Clearance Certificate application.

Once your documents have been authenticated, they can be submitted to the Embassy of Qatar, along with required supporting documents (where applicable). There are additional strict requirements for some types of documents such as university diplomas.

The Embassy of Qatar typically takes 5 business days on average to attest (legalize) documents, assuming that all is in order when they are submitted. If your documents are not prepared correctly when you submit them, the process will be delayed. In addition, if necessary supporting documents have not been submitted or have not yet arrived, the attestation of your documents will be delayed.
For example, if you need to attest an educational document for use in Qatar, you will first have to arrange for official transcripts and a special “true copy form” to be sent from your educational institution directly to the embassy.
Note that all documents for legalization will first need to be authenticated by the appropriate authority in Canada before the Embassy of Qatar will attest them.
We can assist you with all stages of the attestation (authentication and legalization) process, ensuring your documents are processed rapidly and accurately. Our experts specialize in getting your documents, including more complicated documents such as university diplomas and commercial contracts, through the attestation process without interruption. Contact us today to discuss your specific document attestation needs!

Attestation is a term used in some countries to describe the process of having a document from one country certified so that it will be officially recognized in another country. The official term for the equivalent Canadian process is called document authentication and legalization. Regardless of the terminology used, the process for a Canadian document will involve authentication at Global Affairs Canada and legalization at the embassy or consulate of the destination country.

The Authentication & Legalization Process
To have a Canadian document recognized abroad, it must go through the apostille process—also known as authentication and legalization. This allows acceptance in countries that follow the Apostille Convention. For such destinations, the Canadian Apostille process applies and involves the following three steps.
Document Preparation
Preparing your document for the document authentication and legalization process can involve multiple steps including notarization, translation, and more.
Document Authentication
The document authentication process is the first step of the process to have your document officially recognized in another country that is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention.
Document Legalization
The document legalization process is the last step of the process and involves having your document legalized by the embassy or consulate of the destination country.
