To have your Canadian educational documents officially recognized in Saudi Arabia, they will have to go through the process of authentication and apostille. Other countries have different terms for this process, including legalization and document attestation, but these terms all refer to the same process.
The two steps involved with the authentication and apostille of your educational documents for use in Saudi Arabia are:
Step 1 | Your documents must be apostilled by an apostille authority in Canada. |
Step 2 | Your documents must be verified by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau in Ottawa. You will need to have supporting documents sent directly to the Cultural Bureau as well. |
The Saudi Arabia Cultural Bureau will require the following supporting documents to be submitted along with your degree: original transcripts, letter from the University/College stating the degree was completed in person, passport copy, letter of acceptance from a school or employment contract from an employer in Saudi Arabia, original recent criminal record check, and the application and consent forms provided by the Cultural Bureau.
While this process is theoretically straightforward, the reality can be a lot more frustrating. If you are handling this process yourself by mail, you will need to be careful to ensure you meet the requirements of the apostille authority and the Saudi Arabia Cultural Bureau.
