If you have Canadian documents that you need to use in Ecuador, you will need to “apostille” your documents at the appropriate government office in Canada. There are a few things to note about this process.
- The term “apostille” refers to the Hague Apostille Convention. Canada is a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention and therefore, can issue apostilles.
- An apostille can be obtained from Global Affairs Canada or the appropriate provincial authority. This depends on where your documents were issued and/or notarized. Be careful to research the jurisdictions in advance, or your documents may be refused.
