If you have prepared your documents correctly and supplied the necessary supporting documents the legalization process at the Embassy of the UAE currently takes 1-2 weeks.  However, this may depend on the type of documents you have and whether the appropriate supporting documents have been received by the embassy.

For example, before the embassy will legalize a university degree, they require that official transcripts be sent from the university directly to them.

Note that the Embassy of the UAE in Canada refers to the legalization process as “document attestation”. If you have made a mistake in preparing your documents then they will be returned to you unprocessed and you will need to re-start the legalization process from the beginning.
